Everyone’s Talking About Chrissy Teigen’s Genius Hack for Blotchy Cheeks, Here’s Why You Should Try It

If you deem all celebrities as fake and pretentious, then let Chrissy Teigen be an exception. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model is not one to literally hide anything from the public, even at times becoming too much of a sharer.

The mom of two has never held back when it comes to her ideals and beliefs on matters as serious as politics and parenting, to asking for bananas and trying out recipes. We can all agree that the internet adores her, and if others don’t see her as entertaining, she comes backs with more wit.

Chrissy Teigen’s Skin Problem

Naturally, her followers follow whatever she tries. Not known for being secretive, fans know that Chrissy is as raw and real as she can get, unlike other stars who usually post sponsored content.

So recently, the 33-year-old took to her Instagram Stories to update her fans about her not-so-ideal skin condition right now. Specifically, she showed her visibly red cheeks, which she referred to as “little blotchies.”

Chrissy then took an actual aloe vera, squeezed it, then put the goo on her nose and cheeks while explaining that the hack came from her hairstylist Priscilla Valles.

But the cookbook author isn’t exactly the only fan of the plant – Drew Barrymore previously expressed her love for it after she used the same trick for her blemishes.

Of course, this move makes John Legend’s wife a fan-favorite once more. Other celebrities who have the same problem may immediately grab that $500-serum or phone in their dermatologist for an appointment, but Chrissy just showed us that she was just like most of us who try our luck with home remedies.

Before you slam the star for what she tried, her hairstylist has good reasons for the recommendation is backed by science.

Benefits of Aloe Vera

There are reasons why aloe vera is widely used as the main ingredient in gels that you may have seen in the department store.

According to Dr. Joel Schlessinger, the plant is known for having many minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, and vitamins, which is why it has healing properties. It is also effective in soothing skin irritation since it has anti-inflammatory compounds.

Aloe vera is also great for hydration and exfoliation and combatting acne as well. Of course, it is also useful in soothing sunburn which most of us know by now. The question now is if you are not allergic to the plant. What’s best is to do a patch test first before trying it out.

Other Uses

This plant has many other uses aside from skin problems. According to Medical News Today, it helps treat canker sores or those white to yellowish patches on the mouth that make it hard to eat certain foods.

These are usually irritating and may last for more than a week. A study looked at 180 people who suffered from mouth ulcers and who applied aloe vera patch on the affected areas.

The result proved that it was effective in decreasing the size of the ulcer. It also works as effectively as a regular mouthwash, another study found.
